In April and May 2007, a South African team consisting of 4 climbers will attempt to climb Mt. Everest from the north side. The expedition leader is Ronnie Muhl and he will be climbing with the experienced mountaineers Mike Patterson, John Brand and Andy van der Velde.

The team have been planning this expedition for months. They have been working with Arun Treks & Expeditions (Pty) Ltd, a logistical company based in Kathmandu, who have provided assistance with securing permits, sourcing high altitude sherpas, Tibetan cooking staff, oxygen equipment, tents etc. Everyone has worked tirelessly to ensure that all the logistics have been taken care of. One mistake or one missing piece of equipment, can be fatal for a climber on the worlds highest mountain standing 8 848 m tall.

They have been training on a daily basis. Ronnie has been running and climbing, Mike is in the gym every day and on Table Mountain every other day, John is running and cycling and Andy is cycling and working hard in the gym with Robbie Mcintosh who is assisting as a personal trainer. The team is getting fit and strong, but they all understand that it is vitally important to get to base camp healthy!

They arrive in Nepal on the 3rd of April 2007 and leave Kathmandu on the 7th of April for Base Camp, to begin their acclimatisation process.

There is an enormous amount happening around this expedition and we will keep you updated regularly with its progress.
